Vice City

La Perle

leaked · unconfirmed

La Perle is a neighborhood of Vice City, Vice-Dale County, Leonida, that is due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI.

Known from community leaks/datamining — never presented as confirmed fact. Updated the moment Rockstar reveals it officially.

What we know about La Perle

La Perle is an ethnic enclave, primarily home to Haitian immigrant residents in the State of Leonida, as well as seemingly residents from the rest of the Caribbean. The neighborhood first appeared in the September 2022 GTA VI leaks, in a clip showing Jason Duval trespassing at an auto repair shop in the area. A Haitian-themed mural can be seen on a derelict warehouse across the street, featuring the phrase "S4SLIFE", suggesting a strong presence of the San4San gang in the neighborhood. Both the neighborhood's name and that of its real-world counterpart are explicitly mentioned in leaked footage, appearing in debug menus that list world events. La Perle made its official debut in the game's first trailer, with a shot of dirt bikers riding through a residential street in the neighborhood (1:05). It later reappeared in the game's second trailer, particularly in a scene where Jason Duval drives past the aforementioned Haitian-themed mural on the derelict warehouse featured in leaked footage, with the name of the neighborhood visible near the top of the mural, directly confirming the location's name as La Perle. In the distance, a rail service elevated line can be seen running above Vice-Dale County Road 561—the same line shown in an an official screenshot of Vice City depicting the road passing through La Perle. Another official screenshot of Vice City features two gangsters at the same auto repair shop seen in leaked footage. Additionally, a bulletin board found in the second trailer mentions two points of interest located in the neighborhood: the La Perle Caribbean Market and the Haitian-American Cultural Center (1:43).

Real-world inspiration analysis

La Perle is directly inspired by the Little Haiti neighborhood of Miami, Florida. Its name is derived from the nickname given by French colonizers to Haiti, La Perle des Antilles, meaning "The Pearl of the Antilles". The real-life inspiration for the neighborhood is also explicitly mentioned in the September 2022 GTA VI leaks, appearing in debug menus listing world events.
