What we know about Ekanfinaka
The existence of Ekanfinaka was first revealed in the September 2022 GTA VI leaks, where the name was seen on a highway sign along Interstate 97, suggesting that the neighborhood is located near State Route 10. This exit appears to also reach Belville, meaning the two locations are likely next to each other. Little else is known about the neighborhood otherwise, and it remains unclear whether it appears in other media of the game.

Real-world inspiration analysis
The neighborhood appears to be based on the Allapattah neighborhood in Miami, Florida. Both names are descendant from the Seminole Native American language (Ekanfinaka more accurately coming from the Hitchiti-Mikasuki language of the Seminole tribe). Ekanfinaka is an older spelling of Okefenokee, a word roughly translating to "bubbling water", describing a swamp. Allapattah translates to "alligator", a native species of the swamplands in the southeastern United States.
