What’s actually confirmed

Rockstar has published no official map size — no square mileage, no “X times bigger than GTA 5.” What Rockstar has confirmed is the shape of the world: the game is set across the state of Leonida, not just one city, with these named regions:

• Vice City — the Miami-inspired metropolis at the center of the game.
• Leonida Keys — an island chain linked by causeways (Florida Keys analog), prime country for the confirmed watercraft.
• Grassrivers — Everglades-style wetlands.
• Port Gellhorn — an industrial gulf-coast port town.
• Mount Kalaga National Park — forested high ground to the north.
• Ambrosia — rural inland farmland.

That’s a full-state canvas — city, islands, swamp, industrial coast, forest, and farmland. Every region above is on our interactive Leonida map and detailed on the regions page.

The comparison everyone wants

GTA 5’s San Andreas is commonly measured at roughly 49 square miles including water. A state spanning six distinct regions strongly implies GTA 6 is larger — and community analysis of trailer footage and the 2022 leak footage has consistently estimated the map at roughly 1.5–2× GTA 5. That estimate is exactly what it sounds like: fan measurement of unofficial material, not a Rockstar figure. We label it analysis and it stays that way until Rockstar publishes a map. Density is the real story

Rockstar’s own page emphasizes the variety of Leonida over raw size, and the trailers show interiors, crowds, and street-level density beyond anything in GTA 5. A map that’s moderately bigger but dramatically denser plays “bigger” than raw square miles suggest — RDR2 proved that (the full GTA 6 vs RDR2 comparison). When the official map drops, our map page swaps in the real geography the same day (the marker data carries over) — every confirmed location is already pinned.

When will we see the full map?

Rockstar historically reveals the full map right at launch (GTA 5’s map leaked from the strategy guide days early). Between now and November 19 we expect region reveals, not a full atlas. Anything claiming to be “the full GTA 6 map” today is a fan reconstruction from trailers and leaks — some are impressive, none are official.
