What’s confirmed vs. what isn’t
Confirmed: GTA 6 is playable November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and digital pre-loads open November 12 — so the game will be sitting on your drive, locked, for a week. Retailer listings (“playable 11/19”) say the same thing.
Not confirmed: the actual unlock hour. Rockstar has not published launch times per region, and any specific hour you’ve seen quoted is an assumption. The moment official times post, they’ll be on our news feed and this page with the official badge.
The historical pattern
Rockstar’s last two console flagships both used midnight local time unlocks:
- GTA 5 (2013): midnight local, region by region.
- Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018): 12:00 AM local time on console — the earth rotated into it, Oceania first.
The alternative pattern — a single simultaneous global unlock (common for PC live-service games) — has never been Rockstar’s console approach. Expectation, clearly labeled: midnight in your local timezone, November 19, with New Zealand and Australia playing first while America watches streams.
What that means practically
- US players: if the pattern holds, you play at 12:00 AM your local time Wednesday night into Thursday the 19th — not at midnight Eastern while you sit in Pacific time.

One warning
